River Walk Journal StaffEditor-In-Chief/Publisher Elizabeth Ross - Elizabeth is a 32 year old mother of four, freelance writer and editor from near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her previous experience had been mostly in technical copy-editing and technical writing for small foreign software companies seeking to break into English speaking markets. Her work has appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, The Philosophical Mother, MomsVoice, and The Imperfect Parent. Editorial Board Patti Kurtz, DA (Doctor of Arts) English - Senior Fiction Editor - Patti currently teaches composition and creative writing at Minot State University in Minot, ND, where she is also the acting Composition Director and the acting director of the MSU Writing Center. She also advises the Coup, the university's literary magazine. Prior to teaching at the college and university level, she worked in broadcast television for 15 years, directing local newscasts in many major TV markets. She's been a writer for close to 20 years now and has published some poetry and articles in small literary magazines. She's originally from Pittsburgh, but fell in love with the West when she attended graduate school in Idaho. Her current projects include several young adult novels and a fantasy novel. Joseph Koch - Senior Poetry Editor - Joseph lives and works in Erie, Pennsylvania as a Part-time English Teacher. He is also a graduate student at Gannon University in Erie, pursuing a Master's Degree in K-12 Reading Instruction. He has published one article for Enable Pennsylvanians magazine (now defunct). He has also edited manuscript and article drafts for the Editor, Elizabeth, almost all of which were published. Mr. Koch enjoys working with fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry. Mark Hopkins - Senior Creative Nonfiction Editor - Mark is presently a graduate student at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He has been writing for 35 years and has had a couple of writings presented in scholastic non-profit publications. He graduated from MSU with a BA in English Literature in 1996 and is currently working on two novels, a collection of short stories about inner-city youths, and his online portfolio. He is a bilingual educator (Spanish) who has taught and tutored writing and languages to middle school, high school, and college students, and, in addition, has offered sessions in ESL for non-English-speaking individuals. His fields of particular interest include Titanic and other ship wrecks, medieval literature, 1960s pop culture, web design, art history, realistic fiction and non-fiction, parapsychology, and linguistics. The literary genres in which he specializes are the novel, the short story, and essay writing. After he finishes his Master's in Creative Writing, he will pursue his Ph.D. in English. Editorial Staff Patrice Williams - Assistant Editor - Patrice lives in Detroit where she is a graduate student as Wayne State University. She has a BA in Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University. Several years ago, she discovered that her true passion was writing fiction and poetry. Her interests include multicultural literature as well as women's studies. Presently, she is working on a collection of short stories. She is the 33-year-old mother of two daughters. Renee Merion - Assistant Editor - Renee is a 27 year-old graduate student at Minot State University pursuing a Master's degree in Education with an English concentration. Before moving to North Dakota, she taught behaviorally and emotionally handicapped middle school students and then high school English. Recently married, she is learning to enjoy the harsh winters of the Great Plains but deeply misses the Carolina Mountains and coast. She enjoys all types of literature but gravitates to minority writing and plans to continue her education with a Doctorate in the Arts. Operational Staff Geri Stock-Ross - Publicity Director (Pennsylvania) - Geri acquired her affinity for promoting educational endeavors through her previous work for both Greensburg Central and Pittsburgh Central Catholic High Schools. Currently, she is helping her daughter, Elizabeth, with the local promotion of River Walk Journal, making the journal a true family project.
